Pics 1640; courtship displaying M&F; changed ID from original Purple-banded based on ebird reviewer, James Bradley, comments "Purple/maroon chest band absent, violet-blue band of upper breast is wide and extends onto the throat. Stout but long well curved bill fits VBSU. 2nd bird prob young female, not as yellow as a Purple-banded would be & no clear streaking on chest. Typically only found north of Malindi. Have never heard of one south of Mombasa, excellent find."
