Media notes
Originally an undetermined flock of ducks vocalizing at night. Later identified with assistance from a more experienced birder
Observation details
Unknown number, but a flock or flocks, heard doing their “owl-owlet” courtship song and calls of either males or females on a regular basis. They were moving around, but not overhead, just slowly making their way around an extensive area of reed beds to both the south and north - very odd for diving ducks, but the night was moonless, so perhaps they put down because it was the only place they could detect at least some water. Recording obtained of courtship songs and calls in both the north and south, but closest were to the south.
