Rare, perhaps the same individual seen here last winter? Phalarope with distinctive yellow-based bill, shorter and stouter than that of nearby RNPH. Transitioning into breeding plumage and showing some reddish feathers on its body. Photos. Initially hanging out near the shore around 33.2593719, -107.1764313, soon swam out to the south and east. Lost sight of the bird as the wind picked up and the lake became choppy; unable to refind it despite a significant effort
