Behavior and other notes: Adult male Swainson’s Thrush singing quiet songs and calls with a few near-normal songs from a somewhat concealed perch. He starts the really quiet songs at 0:58. The calls are very high-pitched and squeaky. These were given at a very low amplitude. I was only 12 meters away with a 30" parabola. There was no apparent context for this change in singing behavior. This is the same individual as in ML340193461. Recording Time: 0658 (UTC -4). Temperature 14°C. Habitat: mixed deciduous woods. Distance to sound source: 12 meters. Specific location: Sleepy Creek WMA, just west of the ranger station, Berkeley Co., WV. Latitude 39.492747, Longitude -78.130028. Elevation 255 meters. ID’d by sight and sound; ID confidence 100%. Equipment notes: Recorder HPF on at 80Hz, -12dB/octave. Recordist's original filename: WH_21T0686-687_Swainson's Thrush quiet songs_Berkeley Co WV_ML.wav
