Observation details
A nice surprise to find these uncommon but rapidly increasing ducks as we drove past Silver Lake. UPDATE 9/02: alerted by Nick Pulcinella's Facebook comment RE Jerald Reb's note that one of the Black-bellied Whistiing-Ducks had a green band on its leg, I went back through my photos. Most don't show any band, as the ducks are in water deep enough to cover it. But 2 images did show the band, one very poorly, the other a bit better. I've uploaded a closeup of that shot. Apparently, DNRs in SE and Gulf states have been placing colored metal bands on BBWD to help track their spread. The question is, is this a "green" band (=TX) or a "light green" band (=GA)?
