Observation details
🟠 *Rare. Singing male. First alerted to typical ascending song, then located a strikingly blue and contrasting white warbler low in one of the maples near the turnaround parking area. I was hearing Northern Parula and Black-throated Blue Warbler overlap and at first and thought what I was hearing was an atypical variation of one of these two species' songs, but as I listened more, it was too consistent and perfect to be any imitation or alternate song of NOPA or BTBW. Another observer arrived just as I made visual contact with the bird and he was able to get on it as well. After a few minutes and an audio recording, the bird moved out onto the spit. Neal Reilly refound the bird at the tip of the spit later in the day.
