Two of the five willets observed
Observation details
Photos. Spotted along the Rio following a storm and the arrival of a cold front. While neither common nor uncommon, Willets do show up from time to time along this stretch of the Rio during spring and fall migration. Rather stocky, large, plain wader. Eye ring, pale gray overall; thick bill somewhat blunt at the tip; gray legs. When two of the five willets were disturbed by a male mallard, they briskly flapped their wings, revealing the iconic black and white wing pattern of the species.
