Observation details

Large flock, with a few goldfinches mixed in, was in trees near Cricketfield Lane spur off of Speight Branch Greenway south of Tryon Rd. I watched 150 or so siskins fly out of trees into nearby neighborhood, yet the tremendous din of the vocal birds in the trees was not noticeably reduced by even that number of departures. My estimate of the flock's number is likely much lower than the actual number of birds. Impressive sight and sound!
