Observation details
The bird was perched on a horizontal branch or snag along with 7 or more Northern Rough-winged Swallows along the towpath between a long pond and the Old Erie Canal at Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve. It was approximately the same size as the Northern Rough-winged Swallows. It was green on the back and head, white underneath and on the face and around the eyes, and with tones of purple and violet on the rump. These details are based on my photos since I don't remember this specific bird as I was taking photos. I didn't recognize that the swallow was unusual until later in the morning as I was viewing all of my photos at the Preserve on a large screen.
