Observation details
Locally very rare, just the second EBR record, and first for the locality. Found April 21 by Amber King, relocated this evening near the old cormorant roost after she posted her sighting on eBird and iNaturalist. A chunky rail, overall dark blue/purple, with greenish tones to the back, white under tail coverts, yellow legs and feet with exceptionally long toes, odd light lilac-blue frontal shield, red bill with yellow tip. Spent most of its time amazingly well hidden in thickets of alligator weed. Photos.
