Observation details
Chasing a mixed warbler flock on White River Road and I looked above the treeline to see four (4) Vaux's Swifts soaring pretty high with occasional stiff wing beats. Classic "flying cigar with wings". No tail to speak of. Scimitar shaped wings. Grayish brown in coloration. Wings shaped like scimitars.....swept back. Short bill. Lifer for me and I consider myself very lucky in seeing them at all...let alone on such a fine day in Ketchikan. Took 55 pictures. The birds were pretty far away (800 meters is my guess), but this one managed to capture the "essence" of the birds. See embedded picture.
