Observation details
Presumed hybrid. Originally identified as Little Egret, changed after comments from D. Hitchcox: " .."hybrids show a combination of both bushy (Snowy) and ribbon-like (Little) plumes on the head....Structurally this bird appears atypical for a Little, which are usually lankier (especially longer necked looking) and show a longer, dagger-like bill (think similar to Tricolored)." Surprisingly early, perhaps the only US record in March (at least reported to eBird) for either LIEG or LIEG x SNEG. (There are a handful of equally early records--last days of March-- for pure SNEG.) Near blind at n.e. corner of North Meadow. With 1 SNEG. Reported earlier today by Donald Thompson
