Observation details
One well seen by most onboard. With the large Sooty flock just east of Grays Canyon; a few observers had seen one in this same area in the morning. A black-and-white shearwater, smaller than nearby SOSH, with a stiffer and faster wingbeat. Underparts white, underwing mostly white with dark margining on rear edge, white wraps up onto rump slightly and also extends in a narrow curl up onto face behind auriculars. Upper parts solidly blackish. May have migrated north with the SOSH.
