Observation details
I decided to go for a little solo walk, and so I made my way along the back of what is now known as the Crake Pond (though surely the one by the hide is far better??)... and there it was!! The moment I saw that graceful, almost greenish wader huddled in the clear, it's back speckled white, I was shocked! I knew right away that that's what it was, and so I went to fetch the others, including such pals as our fellow Tasmanians the Tongues. Very frustratingly, but quite funnily too, it flew off... and landed right in front of where we started!! I know for a fact there were actually more than just one that day; I'm fairly sure I got a photo of two of them perched together! It wasn't until 2018 that I had another audience with the Wood Sandpiper; it was in almost exactly the same spot as before! The sun was going down, throwing a dramatic light on the bird, and this one was also keen on bobbing up and down like a Common or a Terek would do, so that was fun!!
