Media notes

NOTES: ALARM CALLS ON EARLY PART OF CUT. GOOD FLIGHT CALLS AT 2:30; 3:16; 5:10. USED IN PART ON 'FIELD GUIDE TO BIRD SONGS' 1959. [As far as I can determine, the entire first part of this recording (0:04-1:47) represents constant repetition of the "xxree" call of BNA or, conversely, the "Chatter" of Miller (1983. Auk 100: 440-451). The second part (1:57-2:00) contains what is probably a more rapid series of these same notes as the bird gets ready to sing. The third part begins with two series similar to those in the second part before grading into Song. The rest of the recording alternates between what appear to be series of "xxree" calls and Songs (or partial Songs). The first part is of roughly comparable quality throughout, but the best examples of song are between 2:13 and 3:40. Quality unchanged (2) but approaching 1-2 in places (distant motor humm and some handling noise in places) - CAM - 7 December 2004]. Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm.
