Media notes

The first few calls in the cut are given by one of a two male birds on the ground in a small patch of open tundra surrounded by snow, as a third bird flew in (the two on the ground had spent the past 20 minutes displaying to each other on the ground). When the third bird landed close two of the males gave the long jumble displays, during which they raised their wings and pumped their necks. Then all three birds took off in a prolonged chase flight during which the chortling calls were given by at least two of the birds.
