Observation details
Flew in at around 11:55 while we were observing the Royal Tern. First noted by loud and unusual call. See attached recording. In flight the bigger size, pale back, and pale tip to the bill were noted. It landed next to the Royal Tern with nearby Arctic and Common Terns as well. Black cap more extensive with very few pale specks as compared to the Royal Tern. Remarkably long black bill with pale yellow tip. My 250th self found for Newfoundland! And about the 6th record for the island. Will work on sub-species identification.
