Observation details
Bright yellow warbler with black cap and sooty about. Working the recently cleared slope at east side of Stow Lake. Difficult to ID from Yellow Warbler because of sooty face (i.e. not sure if it has a dark cap, since that could be the euc gummy stuff) and bill (bill appears way too thick for Wilson's, but there is that layer of soot, and it is hard to tell how big it is). The longish tail that is dark at the end, as well as the strong suggestion of a yellow supercilium contrasting with a darker hood make me believe it is a Wilson's. Ken saw this same sooty bird about 3 weeks ago, so it appears there were two wintering within 500 yards from each other (other one in Botanical Garden across the street).
