Observation details
Apparently living in/near the large clump of prickly pear cactus just before Loop Road crosses over Hwy 71. Streaky sparrow-like birds, short tail with white tips. Large typical bunting bill, bluish-gray, darker on top. On females wing coverts show strong white edging, on males covert patch appears mostly white. Narrow white eye-ring and hooked white malar area somewhat like a Vesper Sparrow. Dark black throat stripe. Males range from slight black smudging on face, to extensive black on face belly and wings.
