Observation details
At least one adult male and adult female seen clearly as part of a mixed flock at -23.3834138, -45.0603614. In addition at least one other individual responded to playback. It was not seen clearly but from the brief views obtained could have been a juvenile male. Initially the female was seen, displaying the buff-tips on the coverts that first raised alarm bells that M. minor could be the species in question. Views were poor and Rhopias gularis could not be ruled out with certainly, but the bird eventually showed well. Once we were satisfied with the identification we tried playback and got an excellent response with at least three birds showing incredibly well in the trees above us. Once comical moment involved the female attempting to perch on a small stick that had snapped and was clearly ready fall. With the added weight of the bird, both stick and Antwren dropped down.
