Media notes
There are five spliced recordings (w/1 sec silence between), of an individual male Lesser Goldfinch doing what I call its mimicking song in the first four segments, and then a series of song/intro calls in the last segment. In the mimicking segments, I discern mimicked songs and/or calls from these species: American Robin, Western Wood-Pewee, European Starling, White-breasted Nuthatch, Western Bluebird, Western Tanager, Downy Woodpecker, Black-capped Chickadee, Cassin's Vireo, Northern Flicker, House Sparrow, Pine Siskin, Killdeer, Purple finch call, Violet-green Swallow, American Goldfinch. There are likely others. Other sounds in the recording include: Purple Finch song, Cedar Waxwing, American Robin, Western Wood-Pewee, car, lamb.
Observation details
Recorded mimicking song. In some of the photos you can see that the bird is singing/mimicking, with throat feathers erected and eyelid pushed up from below.
