Mountain Chickadee. Pond Park, Murrieta, CA 7/4/16. Whistled song at 3 and 8 seconds. A Bewick's Wren can also be heard on the recording. Recording by Julie Szabo.
Observation details
One of these was heard by Charity on 7/2/16. Today, east of the pond along the dirt path, and from the eucalyptus trees, both birds were heard and seen. They responded to a brief song recording that we played. We heard one singing (whistled song) and were able to photograph it as it landed close by. It then flew away towards the east and continued to sing. At the same time the other bird was calling "chick-a-dee-dee-dee" from a different area and then it was seen chasing a Bewick's Wren. We recorded the whistled song (attached), but not the "chick-a-dee" calls. (Photos attached).
