Media notes
Calls from a flock of ~20 individuals, mostly out in the field, but one cut of the flock flying over the road. Three cuts, recorded within about 8 minutes. 1000 Hz high pass filter to reduce traffic and wind noise.
Observation details
Two groups of ~60 each. More detected by the earlier carload. Photos, recordings. MLB notes: Unprecedented numbers for the Baton Rouge area. Found earlier by Garrett, Marky, and Nick. Small sparrow-like songbirds, distinctive voices heard. On ground, most had chestnut napes and black chests, not much white in the tail in flight. Despite searching, we were unable to turn up any other species of Longspurs. Photos and audio.
