Observation details
***Rare; first spotted just after 1435 flying in from the southwest with a group of Canada Geese to join the flock already foraging in the field. The extensive blue-gray sheen on the wings was immediately obvious (as was the dark brown neck, slightly smaller size than CANG, and lack of white chinstrap), and Pink-footed Goose immediately came to mind (this hunch was confirmed with scope views once they put down). They landed somewhere around here (40.03120, -74.70345) and gradually walked rough north-northeast over the course of my visit, keeping a good pace and frequently disappearing into ditches and furrows. I last had them around here (40.032109, -74.698232). Along with features already noted, the thin white line separating flanks and wings and namesake pink legs and feet (along with the pink band on the bill) were all noted. Made sure to carefully rule out other, rarer congeners. Much thanks to Jera Piper for telling me about this location (as I would not have visited this spot if she hadn't passed on the news about the Sandhill Cranes being seen here) and Chris Sayers for getting the news out. Digiscoped record photos obtained. Third record for Burlington County.
