Observation details
Single bird flushed from waist-high grasses, dropping after no more than a metre or two, then immediately began vocalising with a hissing/buzzing call, interspersed with a few croak-like sounds. Seemed to be deliberately drawing attention to itself, presumably a nest or young nearby (none seen or heard). Did find some egg fragments a few metres away, that seem a good fit for this species according to Australian Birds their Nests and Eggs by Gordon Beruldsen.
