Observation details
Late afternoon seawatching-session (with scope) at Faro beach (relatively low visibility due to fog). Eventually spotted the diver behind the breakwaters. Medium to large, grey diver, with typical delicate head/bill profile (compared to the other Gavia sp. with heavier, daggar-like bills). The rather fine and pointy bill held in an angle slighly upwards at times (compare attached digiscoped record shot) and showing a sharp division line running along the neck- and head sides, thus seperating dark upperparts from the whitish sides and underparts. A rare sighting in the Algarve.
