Media notes
Recorded at 0719- Last two males counter-singing at south end- closest bird lower in black willow at thick riparian edge. Distant male approx 150 to n in open area moving between scattered sycamore and e cottonwood. North/south fairly heavy traffic along Arthur Ray Teague Parkway ~300' to west. Background species heard here- American Robin, Baltimore Oriole, Killdeer, Brown-headed Cowbird, Common Grackle
Observation details
This final number felt excessively conservative. I would not be surprise if there were 16-17 singing males here. Originally counted as 19 (14 males, + 5 associating calling birds near three single males). However, two single males were noted relocating back and forth between e cottonwoods and sycamore- yet noted moving distances no more than ~300' (distance likely over-estimate- this distance between several large trees) both to north and south of a singing location. Also, two associated calling birds were subtracted from locations with multiple singing males- subtracting birds moving/ possible overcount + those calling birds leaves 12 males, 3 associated calling birds. Five males could be heard singing at one location, then 4 and 3 at others. All counted over an hours time during fairly quick linear walk south.
