Observation details
Difficult to distinguish from Trumpeter Swan by bill shape and length, because of no front on view, but black bill color, and loral skin, appear not to extend to the eye, as with TRSW, and stepper forehead and rounder crown than TRSW. All white body with light reddish, brownish, colored neck. An apparent juvenile in near transition to full adult color. Probably the same bird reported yesterday by Hallie Daly flying above the Abbott’s Lagoon area. This bird was also with four AWPEs, but seen on the reservoir to the right when facing the ranch on the sharp right corner, before the Abbott’s parking lot. The road is narrow there regarding parking! See photos.
