Observation details
Initially I thought there were 500 birds here from what was perched in the trees. Then I noticed the mayhem below the trees in the shrubs of this little tributary watershed of Wilmot Creek. Most bushes had flocks of BOWAs feeding on buckthorn and riverbank grape. Then a RT flew low overhead and all hell broke loose. approx 1400 birds (counted by 10s) flew up from the immediate area a circled several times before settling down and within a minute another 210 birds came in from the west side of the road. After a few minutes and as Mike and Charmaine were arriving birds were dropping back into bushes and moving in several small flocks low to the east.
