Observation details
Continuing bird diagnosed from photos. Seen four times in our almost-an-hour of watching the feeder. Largish hummer with rufous on the sides and and base of lateral rectrices. In fact the whole tail was white tipped but the two central rectices were shorter than the other giving that appearance. Photos had shown that there was also molt in the wings (secondaries). Above green with a smal white dot behind eye. Below throat speckled green whit a few larger greenish feathers at base of gorget; white chest; belly and abd. white with buffy on sides. Separated from Calliope and Rufous by size, and the latter by extent of tail projection beyond wing tips even with molt of central two pairs of tail feathers. Could be an adult female but i suspect it is a young male. Photos included.
