Observation details
During this week, we saw a male and a female Broad-tailed Hummingbirds. We saw the female first, and studied it very closely, and concluded it to be a Broad-tailed versus a Calliope based on the longer broader tail, the fact that the wing projection was shorter, and the slightly longer bill. A few days later, we saw a male, confirming this species presence at this location. This bird appears to be a female or juvenile, possible a juvenile considering the incomplete appearance of the buffy underparts. Whether this bird can be accepted on its own accord is questionable, but the male indicates that this species was present at this location.
