Observation details
This species found earlier by Garrett at this location. An amazing 25 birds! Smaller Chaetura rapidly zipping around with rapid wingbeats; somewhat bat-like. Initially I had 11 birds at once overhead, but at one point several birds lifted out of the trees and at least 25 birds could be seen at once. Birds came and went every few minutes, likely actively foraging somewhere nearby. If you enter through the gate and start walking around the pond, I often encountered the birds the most at the first corner just past the lone tree on the small hill. Photos.
