Observation details
Incredibly high flyovers-- I have no clue how I spotted these things in the first place. In seeing the flock, my first thought was Snow Geese based on the skein arrangement, but then I realized the birds were shorebirds. These were the best photos I could get, given that it was about 8:05pm, and dark out. The group seems to be somewhat homogenous, other than a handful of smaller shorebirds mixed into the bottom left end of the skein. Identified as Whimbrel by several experienced birders based on body shape, flock arrangement, and time of year.
