Observation details
Seeing a big Raptor coming in from front on so soon after the young Harrier, I at first assumed this to be more of the same... but then... then I saw how powerfully and slowly the huge, ragged wings were beating, and the bird banked around dramatically, that enormous diamond of a tail slowly revealing itself... a Wedge-Tail!!! A huge Wedge-Tail!!! To see one of these at the beach is unbelievable enough, but then, no sooner had that one gone through, then a second one came in from the same way, its tail so ragged with moult as to have an interesting, almost laddered look to it!! These glorious creatures were totally unexpected both to me and the local birds; even the Golden Plovers and Stints were terrified...
