Observation details
Robin-sized bird with very large head and bill. Males were yellow with black head and black, yellow, and white wing markings. Females had a large, very pale, bill but were primarily gray/brown in body color. Large flock of males and females in second open field area that were feeding on the ground in the open field and then would flush into the nearby trees. This happened repeatedly the entire time we were present. The count was made of the birds seen while they were on the ground. However, not all of the birds could necessarily be seen so this count is probably slightly low. This was the largest number of Evening Grosbeaks that I had ever seen.
