Observation details
Interesting behavior of both TRES and BANS: the air was cold yet above freezing, and the wind was blowing steadily in the opposite direction to the river flow. The swallows were lining up with the river and following the water slowly downstream with the help of the wind. they would circle back and repeat this loop over and over again. I presume they were attempting to feed on emerging insects that were too slow to fly away given the cold temperature. Had to record in slow motion as flight was too fast otherwise.
