Observation details
Ducks matching size of adjacent Northern Shoveler. One with thin bill, the other with a bit of a knob on bill. Steep forehead, dark forehead and cap, white cheek with upward curve (as opposed to straight or downward curve I would expect with ruddy duck), apparently light throat as well. Short upward tail, not as long as ruddy duck. Seen at great distance with scope, originally identified as ruddy ducks, but after consulting with others have finally decided to change to black scoter. Black scoter reported here a couple days earlier.
