Observation details
Female type seen perched briefly high in ash tree close to dry Sonoita Creek bed across the road from the Paton Center entrance. Facial markings too strong for House Finch. Bill appeared heavy and blunt with slightly curved culmen, lacked pointier impression of Cassin’s Finch. Breast heavily marked with short blurry streaks. Undertail coverts unstreaked white. Bird flew upstream across creek toward town before I could study it in more detail or get better photos.
