Observation details
All three individuals showed white encircling the eye, dark on top of head, and a dark brown patch on the cheek. Chests and backs were dark with whitish flanks. We observed the ducks from two different vantage points, the closer from the pier at the end of the Kerrigan Trail after counts were made from the more northern pier. Observed from the distance, the ducks seemed to be feeding by dabbling in the shallow water. When observed later at closer range for about ten minutes, the ducks were sleeping with heads tucked most of the time. One individual eventually showed its head, providing good photo opportunities.
