Observation details
There was a family group of five with one adult and four juveniles. They were hanging out at an extensive sap well on a birch tree. The adult male called for a while, initially "mewing" and then giving some softer calls. He also aggressively snapped at one of the juveniles when it got too close. The adult and that juvenile chased each other around some and seemed to bite at each other. Two of the juveniles stayed at the sap wells for as long as I watched them (about ten minutes). They were surprisingly tame and unfazed by runners, dogs, and a big family group that came and watched them for a few minutes.
