Media notes
Sorry for the horrible audio, there was a lot of background noises, and I was doing my best to multitask while walking my dog. You can hear the call notes towards the beginning of the audio track.
Observation details
Wow a great surprise and flagged as Rare: Clearly heard the calls multiple times throughout the day and a good sighting of a flock of 5 as well. Seen walking my dog and heard well flying over my house. Got some terrible audio recordings but they were heard quite well. Hard “jip-jip” uttered repeatedly while flying, and strung together into a chattering trill like call at times, matching the type 10 vocalizations. Loud calls with direct flight, notched tall and no wing-bars and large crisscross bills. Heard multiple times by my mom and I, and compared the sounds to Matt young’s and others recordings, with the calls matching the appropriate sounds for Type 10 Sitka Spruce. New patch bird and the first definite sighting of Type 10 for me, I will add a recording soon but there was a lot of background noises.
