Observation details
The race to beat the ebbing of the tide meant I had way, way less time than I would've liked with the little Hoodeds; there were swarms and swarms of them trundling on ahead of me with wide, bewildered eyes and their smart little hoods that would do credit to a Penguin in smartness!! What's more, for just about the first time ever, I was treated to a lot of Hoodeds calling to each other; it's a very curious sound, and at first I assumed it was some kind of Gull mewing very distantly out at sea... but no!! There, right at my feet, were three very vocal Hoodeds in a straying, dashing cluster!!
