Observation details
Seen in spotting scope and binoculars in excellent light. Was app. 250 meters offshore with Pacific Loons. Looked like a Pacific Loon on steroids. Head and bill bulkier than Pacific Loons. Bill tip held upwards. White flank from shoulder to stern. No chin strap, which was visible on Pacific Loons in winter pl. It loked most like the bird in Sibleys marked 1st summer. Photos are poor due to distance. Seen by myself and Donna Monty. All loons and grebes flushed by Bald Eagles. Arctic Loon flew into a very large flock of Pacific Loons app. 4 kms offshore. Not relocated.
