Media notes
Three dowitcher vocsalization can be heard at 2.5, 8.9, 9.9 seconds in this clip, which has been spliced to remove most killdeer vocalizations and amplified 4x. The call at 8.9 sec was given in flight and is partially obscured by killdeet vocalization.
Observation details
Northwest corner mudflats with killdeer. Identified as Long-billed Dowitcher by call note. In the first sound file, a single call note is given at 2.6 sec, Additional call notes are difficult to hear at 12 sec and 26 sec. The second sound file is edited to facilitate hearing the three call notes, which are given at 2.6 sec, 8.9 sec and 9.9 sec. A much better recording was obtained on 11/24/2020 in checklist S77002393. Note: the tail is too pale for LBDO. Shape of back suggests SBDO. The consensus on Advanced Birding Facebook page was LBDO. Hybrid?
