Observation details
Found yesterday by HH. As I was walking back down to the parking lot, I clearly heard them calling to the left of the road in the trees. The birds were approximately 100 yards downhill from the summit loop trail, active and calling in the trees on the west side of the meadow. I immediately saw three birds, but one flew down out of view before I had my binos on the birds. This was likely a third PIGR, but I can't be sure it wasn't an EVGR, which were in the area. From the sound alone I would have estimated more than three, but can't be sure. Very melodic, almost tanager-like call, quite loud given the distance. Visually unmistakable: large finch with more dainty bill and slightly more elongated shape than EVGR. Audio recording is almost useless, but you can just barely hear them.
