Observation details
Patrice Christie said that this Swift is a potentially undescribed species which he had seen at this location previously. It appeared all dark and was perhaps the same size as Common Swift or a little smaller and with a tapering tail with a moderate fork. It was feeding just above the canopy in typical a typical Swift like manner. Nick Borrow commented on this record as follows 'nothing here that cannot rule out Bates’s Swift. However, I do know of the swifts that Patrice has mentioned but even having seen them in the field I would not like to say one way or another. They appear over the forest canopy and have a habit of holding the tail open but that is as far as it goes for me. Unless calls are recorded or a specimen is obtained there is nothing more to say yet.'
