Observation details
One Nashville Warbler - 5th Ketchikan record. Observed along South Tongass hwy. east of Franklin Road. Flushed from tall grass alongside the road and up into alders, on the water side of the highway. It flew up and perched in the trees for some good looks at it. It flew back down into the grass, then eventually flushed to the expansive brushy area across the road. It flew from the brushy area north, out of sight. We had very quick views of the bird, but were able to get some photos. Identified by bright yellow breast, belly, and undertail coverts; buffy throat contrasted with gray hood; area between the legs whitish; prominent and complete white eyering, gray head and back - at least in photos there doesn't appear to be any contrast between the gray head and back (but weren't able to look at that in the field, since observations were very quick).
