Observation details
**very rare; found earlier today by Maggie Smith. Feeding on beach south of creek, above high tide line. Seen picking insects off of wrack, as well as short sallies a couple feet off the ground for flying insects. After ~10 minutes of watching the bird took off and flew distantly to north over hills, vanishing from sight. Distinct wingbars (not wing panel) eliminates Black-backed (lugens) subspecies. All other White Wagtail subspecies lack dark line through eye. Thin wingbars seem to indicate HY bird, and completely gray head points towards female, although unsure how dull HY M birds can be.
