Observation details
Very skittish juvenile moving between cottonwoods in Sagecrest Park. Warm brown tones to plumage overall and distinctive back pattern of numerous and relatively straight bars. A bit of red on the crown, but none on the nape or throat (immature red-naped would show red in both of these spots by this time of year).Scarce but regular fall migrant and wintering species in this county.
