Observation details
Continuing male. First seen in the dense patch of conifers just South of the play structure, along the wall, then flushed North to the area where it has been previously reported, near the patch of Pyracanthas on the North end of the park. Stayed mostly on the ground, foraging with other sparrows and juncos, but flitted up into the conifers and cottonwoods a few times. Never really went above eye level. Warbler with deep blue back, tail, and cap, and dark face, throat, and a little on the sides and wings. White underparts and wing spot. Called multiple times, mostly when sallying out of bushes or flying between bushes, a dry, thin, “kep,” somewhat like that of a junco. Photos.
